Mannheim, Germany
Privatbrauerei eichbaum
EST. 1679
More than 335 years ago, Jean de Chaine from Wallonia founded a brewpub in Mannheim which he named after the germanised version of his family name: Eichbaum (which translates to ‘oak tree’ in English). While the brewery‘s exact location has changed, its home has always been Mannheim and will continue to be so. Today, Eichbaum is one of the largest and most efficient breweries in Baden-Württemberg. It is the oldest company in Mannheim but also one of the most modern, with state-of-the-art bottling and brewing technologies and an annual output of 1.8 million hectoliters. Its traditional art of brewing in accordance with the German Purity Law dated 1516 guarantees Eichbaum beers’ top quality – since 1679.
